[00:00:01] I wake up at 5:00 AM every morning just to get things done. And I work from home. Is that weird?

[00:00:18] This is Elenny from the Empowered Affluence Podcast, and this episode is how to get more done with the 15 minute rule.

[00:00:32] The sad reality is that you’ve got so much to get done, but yet so little time to get it done, am I right? This is why I ran a survey did a lot of research on when people feel the most productive and creative, and turns out that over 80 percent said that it was in the morning time, and that I am proud to say that I am one of them. However the sad thing about this is that people usually wake up early in the morning to get ready and then to head to work, so they don’t have time to relax or read a book or a work on their business, you know? And that used to be my issue, too.

[00:01:25] For instance. I wake up early because it’s hard to get stuff done with a toddler, and if you are a mom or a dad, you know that this a major struggle between parenthood and having a life. Yes I can honestly say that. Also I have businesses to run. So it’s hard to run a business and that bring in that extra income when you have a crazy toddler running around your home and you have to be chasing them or making them food while also feeding herself, doing the diaper changes, or potty training, or reading a book. It’s nearly impossible to get stuff done when you’re a parent.

[00:02:21] I also wake up early because I have to work out and that I made my objective to wake up before my daughter so that I can workout, take a shower, and then come back out and eat some breakfast. I cannot not do that when she’s awake because I have to bathe her, feed her, and spend time with her. You know. I also like to meditate and work on my book.

[00:02:56] I am writing a book. It’s also called Empowered Affluence, and I am hoping that it will come out soon, but for now I’m just trying to perfect it.

[00:03:07] And last but not least, I like to wake up early because it’s so quiet. I wake up at 5:00 a.m. and there’s nobody else awake. There there’s no noise outside. There are no cars passing by at that time in New York. Where I live my street.

[00:03:30] And it is so beautiful for you to wake up and get your stuff done and not have anyone around you, you know? So peaceful. So quiet. It’s just you, your duties, and your coffee or wine. No, it is too early for wine.

[00:03:52] A very common misconception is that by waking up early, you lose sleep, and that’s wrong. Because of that, I like to follow my own 15-minute rule to get a good night’s sleep and a refreshed morning. [inaudable] I did not come up with this. I am pretty sure that it hasn’t been out there somewhere but I enforced it. So yes, I take partial credit.

[00:04:25] And it consists of every night. Let’s say you go to bed at midnight or past 11:00 PM. So if you want to wake up earlier to get stuff done, just set your alarm to go to sleep 15 minutes earlier. Meaning that if you go to bed at, I don’t know, midnight. So, set your alarm for 11:45 pm so that you get a reminder on when to go to sleep. And then you set your alarm to wake up 15 minutes earlier, too. I hope that is making sense.

[00:05:10] So basically you do that, and then you increase it by 15 minutes every three days. And when you do that and you get to your desired wake-up time, you will notice that you will not be tired when you wake up. You will not be sleepy, you will not be grumpy, and that you will actually get stuff done in the morning.

[00:05:40] I told my friend to do this. She does this. She is happy. She loves me more now. I told my father who does not do it, but it could work on him. So he’s very… He’s my father.

[00:05:57] And my husband, actually, I also got him into it and he’s a very happy husband, not because he’s with me, but because he gets a good night sleep a refreshed morning, and he is a very productive. Now, we do not wake up at the same time. That was my rule. The reason why I wake up that early is because I like the peace and quiet and he is going to take away the quiet part of my morning. So we do not do that so we each other.

[00:06:34] He wakes up at approximately 7:00 a.m.. Yes certainly, if I am not mistaken, and he just makes his coffee, he works out. And by the time he does that I am already done with my routine so I just make my breakfast, my daughter’s breakfast, and I get on with my day.
